AHPSS relocates to the village of Paguir.

The village of Paguir is surrounded by the swamps of South Sudan. it is about an hour by boat away from Old Fangak where AHPSS had been located since 2008. About 10,000 residents of Old Fangak fled to Paguir after the dike broke August 31, 2025. That included all the staff of AHPSS and their families. Dr. Jill Seaman of South Sudan Medical Relief also relocated to Paguir and set up the new field clinic.
Paguir is our new "temporary" home. Nearly all the well drilling supplies and all of the equipment has been moved here. It's too early to know whether and when we can return to Old Fangak. The village leaders of Paguir have provided AHPSS with two compounds. One for the storage of our equipment and supplies ,and the second as a new headquarters for operations. The site is large enough for AHPSS to create a community garden.
Update: Dec. 19, 2025
With so many people coming from Old Fangak, Paguir is in need of many new water sources. Our drilling team has completed three new water wells. Two are on flood resilient platforms about a meter above the ground. If the area becomes flooded, people will still have access to clean drinking water.
